Wastewater

New-age engineering can transform wastewater into a resource with boundless opportunities. We develop cutting-edge wastewater treatment solutions across multiple engineering disciplines that create value far beyond their core purpose.

At the Water & Carbon Group, we are changing how the industry approaches wastewater by applying holistic approaches that integrate ecological (nature-based) infrastructure whenever viable.

Our team of professionals are driven by the desire to create progressive, high performance solutions that make a positive impact to people and the environment. We have been delivering wastewater treatment solutions since 2007 and are a pre-qualified supplier under several panels for engineering, environmental and construction services - such as QLD Local Buy.

PFAS

PFAS is the common term used for both per-fluoroalkyl and poly-fluoroalkyl compounds – thousands of manufactured chemicals that have been in production since the 1950s for use in items for waterproofing and stain-resistant coatings, cosmetics, and fire-fighting foams. PFAS compounds do not easily break down, and it is these properties that make it not only useful but also potentially dangerous to humans and the environment.

PFAS is a complex and global problem. In Australia, historical use of PFAS has seen increased levels at airports, Defence sites, firefighting training sites, industrial sites, effluent outfalls, and landfill sites.

Our PFAS removal solution

The Water & Carbon Group team have invested into research and development of a cost-effective solution to remove PFAS. Our proprietary (patent pending) technology is customisable, has low operating costs, and is often the only technology capable of cost-effective removal, particularly when compared to traditional removal methods, such as adsorption.

Our PFAS treatment technology, known as the LEEF (Low Energy Evaporative Fractionation) System®, can treat PFAS from complex wastewater sources down to the limits of detection, with minimal waste and low energy consumption.

We can remove PFAS from complex wastewater sources, without the need for extensive pre-treatment, from:

  • Landfill leachate
  • Municipal wastewater
  • Contaminated groundwater
  • Industrial wastewater

Ecology

We are your trusted partner in delivering ecological solutions to rehabilitate and restore natural landscapes, and to integrate ecological solutions into your wastewater treatment project.

Our capabilities include:

  • Ecological restoration
  • Vegetation offsets
  • Carbon projects
  • Integrated ecological and wastewater treatment solutions

Carbon

With the Climate Change Act 2022  legislating a nationwide commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 43% below 2005 levels by 2030, and a target of net zero by 2050, there is significant and growing demand for voluntary carbon offsets. In addition, many corporations are committing to their social responsibility and sustainability objectives including net zero carbon footprint. These factors are driving demand for reputable Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) in the voluntary and compliance markets.

The Water & Carbon Group (WCG) has the experience and capabilities to develop carbon projects within Australia. We leverage our experience in reforestation, ecological restoration, carbon modelling, wastewater engineering and project management. WCG can provide a full range of carbon project services from advisory, planning, delivery, project registration through to ACCU supply.

We seek to create co-benefits in our projects, such as healthier waterways and increased biodiversity. Our experienced team is motivated to create these co-benefits from all our work and help to establish sustainable, viable and efficient green infrastructure and natural asset projects.

WCG has experience in a range of accredited carbon methodologies, including human induced regeneration (HIR), various forms of reforestation, and wastewater methane capture.
