Since 2007, the Water & Carbon Group has been at the forefront of sustainable engineering within the wastewater, environmental and remediation industries. We specialise in designing, building, and operating multifunctional infrastructure that value natural assets.
Our aim is to engineer a new era of environmental solutions that are holistic in nature and meet the financial, environmental and sustainability goals of our customers. Throughout our work we apply our unique approach collaboratively across our core business units.

including the QLD Government via the Qld Business Development Fund.
Our board
consists of four non-executive directors.
Ian Klug
Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a former director of the Wide Bay Water Corporation and sat on their Audit and Risk Committee. He is currently Chairman of Place Design Group, Chairman of the national Tax Practitioners Board and sits as a Director on the board of the Brisbane Portrait Prize. Ian is formerly the Chairman of the Lord Mayor’s Economic Development Steering Committee and Brisbane Marketing. Previous roles and appointments include Partner of Pitcher Partners Chartered Accountants, Director of the Brisbane Festival, Director of Tennis Queensland and Councillor of Tennis Australia. He was the recipient of the Member of the Order of Australia in 2017.

Peter Mann
Peter is the Energy and Emissions practice manager for Partners in Performance. Peter has 25 + years of strategic advisory and operational experience in the infrastructure, mining, oil & gas, renewable energy and sporting sectors. Peter has previously worked for Boston Consulting Group Advisian Worley Parsons, Patterson Ord Minnett and Macquarie Bank (VIC). Peter served as President of the AFL Player’s Association and was a professional AFL footballer for 10 years, captaining Fremantle in 1997 and 1998.

Andrew is Managing Director of Wolf Capital Pty Ltd, a private investment company established in 2011. He is a Non-Executive Director of The Reece Group; a Director of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and sits on the board of various private businesses and foundations. Previously, Andrew was Head of Business Finance in Eastern Europe for a major global FMCG group and has had numerous appointments with leading national and multinational companies. Andrew has more than 25 years of corporate and investment experience.

Patrick O’Brien
Patrick is a non-executive director of Micro-X (ASX: MX1), the O’Brien Capital Group and the Howjack Holdings Group. He has more than 30 years of business experience spanning Australia, the UK, Western Europe, Asia and the US. As an Executive Director with Macquarie Group, he led teams in corporate finance (Melbourne 1996-2005) and private equity (London 2005-2009). In the latter role, Patrick was responsible for managing Macquarie’s controlling stakes in companies with a total value of more than $10 billion. Prior to Macquarie, Patrick was a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company and a lawyer with Minter Ellison.

Jim is a highly experienced CEO, with over 29 years of commercial experience throughout the water/wastewater, ecology, and agricultural industries. Jim’s uncanny ability to commercialise emerging technologies has allowed him to develop commercialisation strategies for several university and CSIRO led technologies. His most recent focus has led him to introducing a new wave of game-changing and nature- based wastewater treatment and PFAS extraction technologies into Australia.
He is driven by his desire to bring about a new wave of thinking into many of Australia’s environment and utility-based industries. Determined to leave a positive and lasting impact, his job is not done until we are moving in the right direction toward a more sustainable and liveable future.
When Jim isn’t working, you can usually find him surfing at one of the many pristine beaches in SEQ or riding mountain bike trails at Mt Coot-ha.

Government Panels
The Water & Carbon Group is pre-approved under two contract categories as a construction and consulting organisation for all state & local governments in QLD, NT and TAS, along with water utilities. This enables government clients to engage our services under pre-approved Local Buy contracts for engineering and environmental consulting services and construction services.

A Swedish company specialising in the manufacture of trickling filter distributor arms and associated wastewater treatment products.
Wastewater Futures
A local Brisbane company at the forefront of wastewater treatment research and development. WCG has formed a close collaborative working arrangement for our laboratory work and bench-scale pilots.
