Low-Energy PFAS Extraction System & Volume Reduction

Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made compounds which have been manufactured for the past 50 years. PFAS are now classified as emerging contaminants of concern and are present in many types of wastewater, such as industrial waste, leachate and sewage. With growing concern amongst communities about the bio-accumulative nature of the chemicals and their persistence in the environment, PFAS removal has quickly become a burden on local governments and water utilities trying to avoid environmental release.

The treatment of contaminated drinking water has long been the centre of focus for innovation within the field of PFAS removal. Often methods that are developed for PFAS extraction in drinking water are uneconomic and ineffective when applied to wastewater.

In response, we have developed an advanced low-energy PFAS extraction and volume reduction system to treat highly contaminated wastewater – the LEEF™ System. The forward-thinking technology is a multi-staged treatment system centred around harnessing air, gravity and solar inputs to deliver a unique and proven PFAS extraction outcome. The system has been engineered to efficiently and cost effectively extract regulated PFAS contaminants from wastewater using minimal energy and no chemicals, consumables or excessive waste transport costs.

Performance

The proprietary LEEF™ System removes up to 99% of regulated PFAS contaminants within 15 minutes. The final extracted waste stream is reduced passively to below 1% of the initial treated volume. The modular system uses minimal energy and can be assembled to treat any volume (typical deployments are between 2 to 10L/sec).

Throughout the process zero chemicals or consumables are used, allowing the system to maintain very low operational requirements.

Moving Forward – 4 Stage Process

Step 1: Quality Analysis – Provide us with your leachate or wastewater quality data for us to review at no cost to you. We will analyse the characteristics of the water to assist in determining the likely treatment solution configuration.

Step 2: Benchtop Trial –We will conduct a benchtop demonstration treating a sample of your wastewater to verify sizing and efficiency rates and to accurately calculate the cost estimates for a full scale system.

Step 3: Submission of Proposal – We will provide a detailed proposal to deploy the LEEF™ System.

Step 4: Delivery of Treatment Solution – Our experienced engineering and project management team will design, construct and operate a full scale solution.
