Ian Klug CHAIRMAN BA BCom FCA FAICD
Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. A former director of the Wide Bay Water Corporation, Ian sat on the Audit and Risk Committee. He is Chairman of Place Design Group, the Lord Mayor’s Economic Development Steering Committee, and Brisbane Marketing. Previous roles and appointments include Partner of Pitcher Partners Chartered Accountants, Chairman of Queensland Artworkers Alliance, Director of Tennis Queensland and Councillor of Tennis Australia.
Peter Mann NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR B.Ec., University of W.A; MBA, Melbourne Business School
Peter is the Principal Sustainability Consultant for global engineering firm, MWH. Prior to joining MWH, Peter gained experience as a consultant with Boston Consulting Group; as a stockbroker with Patterson Ord Minnett; and as Retail Business Development Manager for Macquarie Bank (VIC). Peter served as President of the AFL Player¹s Association and was a professional AFL footballer for 10 years, captaining Fremantle in 1997 and 1998.
Andrew Wilson NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR BBA (RMIT), ACMA
Andrew is Managing Director of Wolf Capital Pty Ltd, and a Director at E3 Sustainable Investments. Previously, Andrew was Head of Finance – Business in Eastern Europe for a major global FMCG group. Andrew has more than 16 years of business experience with leading national and multi -national companies. He has held both domestic and international appointments, primarily in Europe.
Patrick O’Brien NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR LL.B (Melb), B.Com (Melb), Grad. Dip Applied Finance (ASIA), MBA (Harvard)
Patrick is Chairman of Micro-X (ASX: MX1), and a Director of the O’Brien Capital Group and Red Rock Leisure. Patrick has more than 25 years of business experience spanning Australia, the UK, Western Europe, Asia and the US. As an Executive Director with Macquarie Group, he led teams in corporate finance (Melbourne 1996-2005) and private equity (London 2005-2009). In the latter role, Patrick was responsible for overseeing Macquarie’s controlling stakes in companies with a total value of more than $10 billion. Prior to Macquarie, Patrick was a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company and a lawyer with Minter Ellison.
Jim Hunter CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER B. Ag Ec, University of New England; MBA, Queensland University of Technology; GAICD
Jim draws on 21 years of commercial experience to grow The Water and Carbon Group’s reputation as the carbon sequestration and water treatment provider of choice for Australian organisations. His background spans roles in a range of industries, including companies such as leading global agribusiness Monsanto. Jim has also held CEO and executive roles in Centrogen, Genos, and The Farmshed. His early career in sales, marketing and product development gave him a deep understanding of all levels of business, giving him a strong awareness of customer needs and considerations. Jim has also developed and implemented commercialisation strategies for several university and CSIRO created technologies.
Tom Headley PREFERRED CONSTRUCTED WETLAND CONSULTANT BAppSc (Hons). PhD.
Tom is a constructed wetland specialist with almost 20 years’ experience in the research, implementation and operation of wastewater treatment systems using ecological technologies. He has published over 20 scientific papers on the subject, making him a respected global authority in his field. Since completing his doctorate in 2004, Tom has worked in New Zealand, Fiji, Denmark, Germany, the USA and the Middle East making use of the full spectrum of wetland technologies across a broad range of applications, including treatment of sewage, landfill leachate, industrial and agricultural effluents.
Prior to returning to Australia to join the Water and Carbon Group in 2015, Tom’s most recent role was in Oman, where he was the Head of the Treatment Wetland Competence Centre (BAUER Resources), leading a specialist team in the design, construction, research and operation of ecologically engineered systems, including the world’s largest industrial constructed wetland system in Oman, consisting of 700 ha of created wetlands and ponds for managing 115 ML/day of wastewater from the oil industry.
Tom has been working directly with the Water and Carbon Group on numerous constructed wetland and related projects for the past two years and more recently has become the Water and Carbon preferred constructed wetland consultant.
Michael Jones PROJECT DIRECTOR BEng
Michael has over 25 years experience in the construction industry as a professional engineer overseeing the delivery of multi-disciplined projects in the water, wastewater and industrial sectors. His experience and knowledge allows him to provide solution focused leadership. He has been a senior member through all phases of Construction, Design and Construct (D&C) and Design-Build-Operate projects.
Michael’s success is largely due to his collaborative management approach and his ability to develop integrated teams across multiple multidiscipline projects. His open and flexible style and ability to work with clients and other stakeholders balanced by his working knowledge of infrastructure projects contributes to the success of his project teams.
Vanessa Personnaz PROCESS ENGINEER BE/BSc; MChemEng; MBus
Vanessa is a Chemical Engineer with more than 5 years of experience in water, wastewater and environmental industries. She is highly skilled at providing technical solutions for government agencies and a broad range of clients in the mining and coal seam gas sectors, including Xstrata, Peabody, Wesfarmers and Hancock Coal. Vanessa has advanced capabilities in developing process engineering solutions, engineering design, water quality monitoring, troubleshooting, auditing, technical writing, large dataset analysis and project management.
Jade Salmond PROJECT MANAGER AssocD C.E; B.C.E.
For the past eleven years, Jade has encompassed a solid foundation in the areas of Site Engineering, Project Management and Estimating in both the private sector specialising in Urban Development and within Local and State Government Authority areas. Recent experience has culminated in roles such as successfully delivering over $130M as project manager to Department of Transport and Main Roads. Furthermore as Superintendents Representative, Jade has successfully delivered over $30M of infrastructure upgrades. Earlier experience involved Project Managing over $20M of residential and commercial civil subdivision developments and building infrastructure works within the Gold Coast and Brisbane Region.
Paul Patterson PROJECT MANAGER
Paul brings more than 20 years of experience in construction to his role with The Water and Carbon Group. After starting his career as a tradesman, he has progressed through Project Administration, Contract Administration, Project Management and Construction Management work, giving him exceptional project knowledge.
Sarah Costello ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISOR MEnv Man (Master of Environmental Management, Conservation and Natural Resources Management)
Sarah is an Environmental Advisor who has built her experience while working for the Water and Carbon Group during her postgraduate studies. Sarah has a strong knowledge base on environmental management in Australia, environmental regulations and sustainable development. Sarah was also involved working on the field, performing monitoring, assessment and maintenance of our systems. Her previous work experiences gave her a strong sense of business, customer relations and business development.
Daniel Cole PROJECT ECOLOGIST BHortSc (Horticultural Science)
Daniel’s proven background assisting with the project management of civil landscape and ecological restoration projects makes him an asset to our customers. He has a strong botanical background, with diversified landscape, reforestation and horticultural experience, both in Australia and abroad.
